Smart nannies meet some of the needs of older people that would otherwise require the help of others to meet them, and the
possibility and necessity for older people to interact with others is eroded, leading to a significant contraction of both their family and friend networks.

This leads to a significant shrinkage of their social networks and social isolation.

EMOTIONAL UNDERSTANDINGIntelligent robots are programmed to operate on the basis of algorithms, whereas human emotions cannot be quantified by algorithms and can lead to uncommunicative or coercive behaviour in the course of human-robot relationships.

The master-servant communication model of intelligent nannies can lead to dependency and a significant atrophy of social networks for older people.
