Social Atomization
The trend of social atomization causes individuals to feel separated from each other, deconstructs of information, and leads to confusion about the truth.
people no longer need to rely on in-person relationships but instead turn to online connections.
The Disappearance of Process
When we become accustomed to joining online communities with similar interests and meeting new people on dating apps, we miss the essential process of starting communication.
VISUAL LANGUAGE
Internal and External Reversal:
Internally, people have shifted from nearby areas and neighbors to online closed communities. Externally, they have changed from difficult-to-reach countries and regions to unknown nearby places.
Erasure:
I use erasure to show the transition from inside to outside, but eventually, the canvas becomes chaotic, making it difficult for the audience to perceive the full picture of reality.
Elevator:
Using an elevator to express the rupture of time.
level 1 ELEVATOR ALIENATION
In elevators, people stay close to other people, but they don’t know anyone in the same apartment or building.
people are used to being alone and avoid conversation and contact even in crowd.
level 2 NETWORK MAZE
With the development of digitalization, we are like walking into a network maze.
Every day, I am immersed in front of the screen, sliding, clicking, and swiping the screen, like doomscrolling.
level 3 2D FRIENDS
Due to the development of digital technology, young people mostly use mobile phones and the Internet to communicate.
Video and text messages will lose the details of face-to-face communication.
This will lead to a decrease in social and sensory abilities.
level 4 DATING SOFTWARE
Although social software can increase the chance to know other people, such interactions are purposeful and quick and short, lacking the process of getting to know each other. It will make us feel more alone.
THE LAST LAYER
The sense of emptiness from being out of touch with society.
